Arizona State Bill 1070

So to summarize, Arizona has passed a bill that allows police officers to racially profile Hispanics. It requires all Hispanics to carry their immigration documents and allows police to ask for these documents with the broad, unspecified term “suspected” as their only need for justification. The law, which proponents and critics alike said was the broadest and strictest immigration measure in generations, would make the failure to carry immigration documents a crime and give the police broad power to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally. Opponents have called it an open invitation for harassment and discrimination against Hispanics regardless of their citizenship status…

It requires police officers, “when practicable,” to detain people they reasonably suspect are in the country without authorization and to verify their status with federal officials, unless doing so would hinder an investigation or emergency medical treatment.

It also makes it a state crime — a misdemeanor — to not carry immigration papers. In addition, it allows people to sue local government or agencies if they believe federal or state immigration law is not being enforced.

    Arizona lawmakers have approved changes to the state’s controversial law cracking down on illegal immigrants. The changes were designed to answer charges made by protesters that it will lead to racial profiling by police. The original law stated police can conduct an immigration status check during any quote “lawful contact,” if they have reasonable suspicion a person is an illegal immigrant. It replaces “lawful contact” with “lawful stop, detention or arrest,” clarifying police may not stop people without cause. The revised law also removes the word “solely” from the phrase “The attorney general or county attorney shall not investigate complaints that are based solely on race, color or national origin.” Read the new Arizona Immigration Law

    we can discuss this further over lunch, but suffice to say there’s nothing wrong AT ALL with this law. Think about it. Lets say you’re at all like me and you’ve been loitering around somewhere at a questionable hour and the cop asks to see your ID.

    You haven’t really done anything wrong, but in the interest of public safety he asks for ID. Is he doing this because you’re white? I doubt it. The simple fact is that it’s illegal to be in this country if you’ve not gone through the immigration process.

    Then theres another side to it which is this:

    It’s a known fact that a vast majority of violent crimes committed in lower arizona are done by illegal aliens who are here because the federal government has refused to secure our border.

    If you are driving a car and y ou dont’ have your licence on you that is a misdemeanor, however most of the time you take your license to the courthouse and show the judge and he throws it out because you were , in fact, legal. This is the same with the Arizona law.

    The problem is that liberals like Jackso and Sharpton and various other “civil rights” leaders realize that if they were to actually let the civil rights movement, which is no longer necessary, die then they become irrelevant. but what they do is stir the proverbial pot on nonsense like this so that they can remain relevant, anbd they do so at the expense of us and all their sheep. I for one am not buying into this.

    The Arizona law asks arizona law enforcement to protect their citizens by upholding existing federal law. If you dont’ have your papers on you you can show them to the judge. Also ther law provides that ANY state issued or Locally issued ID is fine. I’d say that pretty well covers anyone who isn’t a criminal.If you’re legal… what do you have to fear from this law? Nothing. Nothing at all. :-p
