Yesterday, the online social media giant Facebook entered the gift card business by selling Facebook Credits cards at Target store near you. The credits allow you to buy applications and virtual goods.

Trashed Idea – 3D girl speed bump
That, my friends, is a 3D painting of a girl for a speed bump. From Canadia.
In what sounds like a terrifying experience, the girl’s elongated form appears to rise from the ground as cars approach, reaching 3D realism at around 100 feet, and then returning to 2D distortion once cars pass that ideal viewing distance. Its designers created the image to give drivers who travel at the street’s recommended 18 miles per hour (30 km per hour) enough time to stop before hitting Pavement Patty–acknowledging the spectacle before they continue to safely roll over her.

Fact Check – Two Gentlemen of Lebowski
So after writing the script and posting it online, running a few plays in random cities and getting appreciative nods from the actors in the film, Adam Bertocci has finally gotten a legal copy of his script out in the world for you to purchase.

Mash Up – Klingon Shakespeare
Ahem. This is for all my Trekkies.
At the company’s annual benefit Sept. 25 in Rosslyn, selections from “Hamlet” and “Much Ado About Nothing” will be performed in the language that was invented for the Klingon characters of the “Star Trek” films. Actors will be speaking the verse in two languages, English and Klingon, and the lines in each will correspond to the Bard’s signature meter: iambic pentameter. The translations are courtesy of the Klingon Language Institute, a Pennsylvania group that published “The Klingon Hamlet” several years ago, in addition to composing the Klingon version of “Much Ado About Nothing.”
In the same vein of Two Gentlemen of Lebowski, there is a company putting on a play with certain scenes spoken in Klingon. This may seem strange but one of the chairmen of the Washington Shakespeare Company, who is performing the piece, also invented the language. More here.

Thanks to Niel for finding this gem of an application. Tired of religious smut taking over your screen? Have 20 porn blockers on your web browser but none to keep out the evils of overzealous Bible thumpers? Fear only a little longer as there is a web-blocker in development to keep it out.
GodBlock is a web filter that blocks religious content. It is targeted at parents and schools who wish to protect their kids from the often violent, sexual, and psychologically harmful material in many holy texts, and from being indoctrinated into any religion before they are of the age to make such decisions. When installed properly, GodBlock will test each page that your child visits before it is loaded, looking for passages from holy texts, names of religious figures, and other signs of religious propaganda. If none are found, then your child is allowed to browse freely.
While I recognize religion can be fuel for propaganda fires, this seems like a wasted effort. Thus, your Trashed Idea. You can read more here.

Sugar heavy urine excreted by diabetic patients is now being utilized for the fermentation of high-end single malt whisky for export. The Whisky market is growing faster then any other alcoholic beverage worldwide. With a prevalent genetic weakness being exposed in the northern hemisphere leading to a sharp rise in type two diabetes, economists have found a new exportable commodity to exploit and are keen to capitalize on this resource quickly.
