Assassin’s Creed was one of those games you either hated or loved. That was mostly because the long (unskippable) cut scenes made dying and restarting so much of a chore and the combat system much less involving than the commercials promoted; it turned off all but the more dedicated gamers. I rather enjoyed it myself. My combat style towards the end became, “assassin knife, block, counter” because it was an instant kill on ANYONE. It just had the hardest timing, which I was able to pick up, but it ultimately defeated any real enjoyment to be gathered towards the end. I was rarely patient enough to sneak towards the bosses, usually a run-and-gunner.

But the sequel is about to drop and I haven’t been keeping up with it too much. I know it has new devices, swimming is an option now, as well as some gliding apparatus? Blah. I do enjoy the level of work and ability that’s put into the free-climb system. I know people complained but I think if people were to look at what is involved in developing a similar system they would find it’s no easy task to go as far as they did with AC. Regardless of all this, I just saw a trailer for Assassin’s Creed 2, and it’s the first time I’ve been excited for the game. I hope you enjoy.
